The Collection

The Insect Insane collection is a series of hand-embroidered insect brooches from Estonia. Every specimen is made without a pattern and never repeated: thousands of glass and metal beads, sequins, lace and vintage fabrics are laid onto velvet one at a time. A single brooch takes 30–90 hours, and once it is sold, no second one follows.

Each specimen carries its own Latin name, an Estonian common name and its own plate number, like an entry in an entomology cabinet. The smallest is 4 × 4 cm; the largest reach close to ten centimetres. The back is velvet and the fastening is a brooch pin with a locking clasp, so the piece sits firmly on a lapel, jacket, dress or bag.

The collection grows whenever a new specimen is finished. We ship throughout Europe and North America.
